As the name implies, Rodric's Forge was a blacksmith's forge where Rodric and his father once worked. This is where Rodric spent much of his childhood learning his father's trade.

Located in the Infected Town during the game's penultimate chapter "Coronation", this is a secret location that the player can find for "The Blacksmith" achievement.

History[]

This is the place where Rodric grew up as he was learning the blacksmith's trade from his father. Unfortunately for the two of them, Rodric's father had been tasked with the safeguarding of the Sanguinis Itinera, hidden deep within the town's University. Having crafted the vault-like door leading to the University's underground chambers, the two blacksmiths soon drew the eye of Vitalis Bénévent and his Inquisition. When Rodric's father refused to aid them in retrieving the book, he was killed and Rodric was dragged away as their prisoner.

Coronation[]

During their infiltration of the town in search of Vitalis, Amicia, Hugo, and Rodric stumble across the ruins of the forge. Even before finding it, Rodric warns the de Rune children not to venture further down the street, knowing and fearing what it is they will find. Upon coming across the blighted forge, Rodric falls to his knees in despair, recalling his father's death at the Inquisition's hands. Amicia is quick to console him that the Inquisition cannot take away his identity as a blacksmith.

Given Hugo's question of whether the Inquisition burned Rodric's house down, the forge may have been destroyed even long before the town's plaguing.

Finding Rodric's Forge[]

Late in the chapter, Amicia, Hugo, and Rodric will come across a trio of guards holding two people prisoner (this is just before the segment in which Rodric uses the wooden carriage to shield Amicia and Hugo from the archers). After being freed, the prisoners attempt to escape, only to be killed by the archers overseeing the road leading to the Cathedral.

Instead of proceeding along the road using the carriage, the player must instead venture toward the opposite side of the street, where a line of burning debris prevents entry. To the right of this will be a path leading through a rats' nest. Coming out the other side, Rodric will remark that he "knows this place all too well". Here, the player will see an iron gate, which Amicia can open by using her sling on the chain blocking the gate. The player can then return to the street and open the gate near where they first entered, before proceeding through the gate they opened with the sling to reach the forge.
